As an Enterprise Architect focused on Data and Integration at Empower, you will tackle the most complex data challenges and shape how teams across the enterprise design and build data solutions. You will be a hands-on technical leader who brings clarity to complex system landscapes by guiding how data moves between platforms and applications, how integrations are approached, and how solutions are built to be reliable, scalable, secure, and cost aware. This role is for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving the hardest problems, and wants to amplify their impact by setting direction that helps many teams deliver better outcomes with less friction.
Responsibilities
Shape how data enters and moves through Empower’s systems by defining scalable ingestion and integration approaches that align with long-term architectural direction
Influence platform and infrastructure decisions by guiding teams toward technologies and patterns that support reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency
Define consistent approaches for introducing and managing data across systems so that it behaves predictably as it flows and evolves
Identify and address systemic issues in how data is handled across platforms, driving improvements that reduce errors, inconsistencies, and operational friction
Lead architecture reviews and technical decision forums, helping teams align on practical, enterprise-ready approaches for data movement, storage, and system interaction
Drive simplification across the data ecosystem by reducing duplicated tooling, fragmented approaches, and unnecessary complexity
Required Skills
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, complex environments and bring structure to loosely defined problems
Strong judgment in evaluating tradeoffs and making decisions with incomplete information in large-scale systems
Experience working across multiple teams and domains, with an ability to align differing perspectives into a cohesive technical direction
Ability to quickly understand existing system landscapes and identify where complexity or fragmentation is limiting progress
Experience communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven track record of delivering impactful outcomes through influence, collaboration, and practical decision-making
Nice to Have Qualifications
Experience working in regulated industries such as financial services, wealth management, or similar environments
Experience designing or working with system-to-system integrations using APIs or service-based approaches
Familiarity with modern data platforms and cloud environments across ingestion, storage, and processing layers
Exposure to streaming, messaging, or change-based data processing in production systems
Experience working with multiple technologies and platforms across a large, heterogeneous ecosystem
Relevant cloud certifications or formal training in architecture, data engineering, or distributed systems
Education
Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in computer science or related field (information systems, mathematics, software engineering, etc.)
