Position Description

Oversees the enterprise application architecture strategies including establishing an application technology roadmap that addresses buy-vs-build inflection points, and risk management for all applications in the enterprise portfolio.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Provides vision and strategic oversight during product evaluation, solution prototyping, and proof of concept activities.
  • Develops enterprise strategy for application design, approves SDLC processes, evaluates application quality and advises IT leadership on risk.
  • Evaluates and updates architecture designs and development methodologies to achieve high application maintainability, stability, and quality.
  • Evaluates emerging technology trends, competitive products, and business need to set direction and roadmap for future application growth or buy-vs-build inflection points.
  • Oversees complete application architecture documentation including visuals and communication aids.
  • Provides senior technical leadership and governance for key projects engaging with Project Office, Technical Control Office, senior IT leadership, and business stakeholders.  Provides expert advice on milestones, risks, and quality.
  • Mentors architecture team and technical team leads in achieving business objectives.

Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.

Minimum Requirements:

Position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, programming, information systems or related field and ten years of work experience in an information technology position with five years in a lead technical or architecture role. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.
 
Position also requires strong written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong analytical skills; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; advanced knowledge of information technology concepts, practices, and procedures, including software design patterns, application frameworks, Java Enterprise Edition, data access architectures, online application design, mobile application design, scripting and batch processing, and n-tier architecture; previous experience with large scale application systems; advanced knowledge of current and upcoming technologies; and the ability to solve complex technical problems using independent judgement.
