IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an English Content Editor to join our Rosetta Stone curriculum development team, focusing on our English for Specific Purposes learning content. The Rosetta Stone immersive language learning platform is trusted by individuals, schools, and global enterprises alike.
As part of a curriculum development team, you will review online course content designed for intermediate and advanced adult English learners. These courses will be focused on specific industries (e.g., Hospitality, First Responders, Information Technology). You will edit lesson content, including engaging and informative dialogues, usage explanations, vocabulary entries, and practice activities, for grammar, style, proficiency level appropriateness, and clarity. You will collaborate with curriculum designers and writers through all steps of the development process, including copy editing, proofreading, and final reviews prior to release.
This is a remote, 1099 consulting role for six months with possible extension. #LI-REMOTE
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Review educational content for spelling, punctuation, and grammar while ensuring that the content is effective, well written, engaging, accurate, and level appropriate
- Edit content for style, clarity, and accuracy
- Adhere to Rosetta Stone curriculum and style guidelines
- Collaborate with curriculum designers and writers to meet project objectives and deadlines
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, or a related field
- Excellent editing, copy editing, and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail
- Two years experience in instructional design and curriculum development for adult second language acquisition
- Experience in the Hospitality or First Responders fields
- Ability to adjust to in-house style and pedagogical guidelines, including the Chicago Manual of Style and the CEFR proficiency scale
- Can-do attitude with openness to others’ ideas
- Ability to be efficient and organized while working in multiple documents
