Role Summary

The Engineering Change Management Lead is responsible for designing, building, and scaling the operational systems that enable engineering and product teams to execute effectively.

This role is process-first — focused on defining clear, pragmatic ways of working and translating them into structured, adoptable systems across the organization. Enablement is a core outcome, ensuring teams can consistently apply these practices.

This is a hands-on role for a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, builds from first principles, and continuously improves how engineering teams plan, execute, and deliver.

Key Responsibilities:

- Engineering Ways of Working (Primary Focus)

Define, document, and evolve engineering and product operating models

Build role-based playbooks and guardrails across engineering functions

Standardize planning, intake, prioritization, and execution processes

Establish clear ownership models and decision frameworks

Balance structure with flexibility to support different team needs

- Enablement & Adoption (Core Outcome)

Translate processes into clear, usable enablement materials (playbooks, guides, workflows)

Partner with Agile Coach and Engineering Leads to drive adoption across teams

Ensure new ways of working are understood, applied, and continuously improved

Identify gaps in adoption and refine processes based on real-world usage

- Operational Cadence & Governance

Establish and run key operational cadences (planning cycles, KPI reviews, retrospectives)

Align Engineering and Product rhythms for better execution and visibility

Support quarterly and annual planning processes

Introduce lightweight governance to ensure consistency without slowing teams down

- Cross-Functional Alignment

Partner with Engineering, Product, and Leadership to align on priorities and execution models

Resolve ambiguity in roles, responsibilities, and workflows

Drive clarity in how workflows across teams and functions

- Continuous Improvement

Identify execution friction and systemic inefficiencies

Iterate on processes based on team feedback and performance data

Work closely with the Engineering Systems & Insights Lead to align process with metrics

Ensure processes evolve with organizational maturity

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

Clear, documented, and adopted engineering ways of working

Consistent planning and execution processes across teams

Reduced ambiguity in roles, responsibilities, and workflows

Improved delivery predictability and team alignment

High adoption of playbooks and operational standards across engineering

Required Experience

- 6–10 years of experience in Engineering Operations, Technical Program Management, or similar roles

- Proven experience building, scaling, and optimizing engineering processes and operating models

- Strong track record of partnering directly with Engineering and Product leadership

- Highly experienced in software development, ideally within complex digital transformation environments

- Solid understanding of AI capabilities, products, and practical business applications

- Strong systems thinking mindset with exceptional documentation discipline

- Demonstrated ability to drive change and adoption without formal authority

- Outstanding leadership skills with the ability to lead through influence

- Strong interview and discovery skills, including:

- Conducting client and stakeholder discovery sessions

- Diagnosing business opportunities

- Eliciting requirements and supporting research activities
