Job Description

About the Role

Bose Corporation is seeking a Engineering Program Manager to join our Global Research and Development Program Management Team. Our Program Managers lead globally distributed, multi-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, acoustical, software, manufacturing, validation, plastics, material science and user experience engineers, as well as resources from our Global Supply Chain Management organization, our Contract Manufacturers and our remote Bose engineering teams. This role also requires strong operational awareness to ensure alignment between product development, resourcing, and delivery processes across the global organization.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute engineering projects throughout the product lifecycle including activities related to aligning product requirements, establishing roles and responsibilities, and creating ROI projections
  • Establish and clarify project objectives and ensure that teams have the guidance and resources necessary to succeed
  • Manage project milestones for software and hardware integration
  • Lead or support new technology platforms, new products, and new product variant program development as needed
  • Set project budgets and schedules and track performance adjusting plans as needed to align with customer needs, resource availability and competing project priorities
  • Identify and manage project risks (technical and other)
  • Drive operational efficiency by implementing scalable project management processes, streamlining workflows, and improving cross-team communication
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams to ensure resource planning, capacity alignment, and materials readiness to support development and launch activities
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to identify areas for improvement and support data-driven decision making
  • Build valued working relationships with technical subject matter experts on your teams as well as with stakeholders and management

About You

Skills & Knowledge

  • Leading cross functional teams such as electrical, mechanical, software, supply chain and product quality
  • Experience working with external technology, design, and manufacturing partners
  • Program / project management background in consumer electronics product development or in the development of new technologies and software
  • A working understanding of software development processes and integrating with hardware designs
  • Understanding of operations and supply chain principles including lead time management, inventory strategies, and capacity planning
  • Systems-level critical thinking, Collaboration, Influencing Skills and High Emotional Intelligence
  • Experience with project scheduling and planning; MS Project or equivalent
  • Experience with project cost estimating and program accounting practices
  • Exposure to and ability to grasp basic technologies and engineering/manufacturing processes involved in product development
  • Ability to build strong distributed teams and provide leadership throughout the development cycle
  • Confidence to communicate effectively with cross functional technical teams, business organizations, vendors and leadership

Qualifications

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in engineering
  • 3 years minimum experience in a Product Development role, preferably within consumer electronics
  • 5 years minimum experience in a Program/Project Manager role
  • Formal training or experience in operations management, supply chain, or Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is a plus
  • BS in Engineering required
  • MS in Engineering or MBA is a plus
