What You’ll Be Doing:
The Engineering Manager at Evolent will serve as a key technical expert in building and enhancing the AI product and ensuring its seamless integration into a larger enterprise system. This is a highly dynamic role that requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to navigate distinct cultures and processes within the organization. This will involve adding support for cutting-edge models and training techniques, creating a user-friendly experience.
Collaboration Opportunities:
This position will lead a growing team of five engineers, manage them, and help them connect strategically with the engineering frameworks and decisions made by Evolent. Will serves as a technical point-of-contact to liaise between stakeholders and leadership, and the larger enterprise, facilitating effective communication and collaboration and building relationships across cross-functional teams.
What You Will Be Doing:

Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Identify and recruit top talent to expand the team as the company grows.

Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and create development plans for team members.

Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

Manage a large-scale migration project, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services and seamless integration with the enterprise system.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and account management, to align engineering efforts with business objectives

Drive the development and enhancement of our AI product, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality, performance, and user experience.

Quickly identify gaps in team processes and institute "just in time" processes, tools, and best practices to solve gaps just before they become a problem.
Qualifications Required and Preferred:
-
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree. (Required)

5+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role, with a track record of managing and scaling engineering teams. (Required)

3+ years of experience in designing solutions and strategic planning, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels. (Required)

5+ years of production software development experience in one of the following C++, Java, Scala, or a modern variant thereof. (Required)

Experience with developing cloud-native services and applications, either on the public cloud (AWS/Google/Azure) or an equivalent private cloud. (Required)

Experience with designing and implementing well-thought-out APIs in a service-oriented architecture. (Preferred)

Experience in both large enterprise environments and startup settings, with the ability to navigate and integrate the best practices from both worlds. (Preferred).
Technical Requirements:
We require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 Mbps and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.

The expected base salary/wage range for this position is $140,000 - $155,000. This position is also eligible for a bonus component that would be dependent on pre-defined performance factors. As part of our total compensation package, Evolent is proud to offer comprehensive benefits (including health insurance benefits) to qualifying employees. All compensation determinations are based on the skills and experience required for the position and commensurate with experience of selected individuals, which may vary above and below the stated amounts.
