Retail Technology is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices.

You will be working as a part of HomeBuying Technology to achieve their strategic objectives through planning, prioritising, delivering and supporting projects and initiatives. Your team’s success will be realised through partnering with business and IT teams across both HomeBuying business domain and Technology to deliver beautiful experiences and exceptional capabilities to our branch applications

The role involves working in a team environment, leading a team of engineers implementing backend web services to create solutions that meet the needs of a wide range of users. The role will deliver improved outcomes for our customers and our organisation by delivering high performant, resilient services for our CommBank App customers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
As an Engineering Manager, you –
- Build, lead and inspire an engaged team of Engineers.
- Empower team to manage their work appropriately, respond to queries, address impediments and problem solve technical issues.
- Provide effective coaching to Engineers and establish mechanisms for peer-to-peer learning and mentoring.
- Understand how to foster and lead diverse teams and demonstrate commitment to doing so.
- Role model a culture of engineering empowerment, autonomy, psychological safety and constructive challenge.
- Understand unique skill sets of team members, providing personalised feedback and guidance.
- Communicate to senior management and key stakeholders to ensure clear path to execution.
- Communicate Engineering Practice standards and consistent ways of working across the domain and CBA that align to industry standards.
Essential Skills:
- 13+ years of industry experience as a full-stack engineer with fairly good experience in leading people and teams.
- Proven track record of building, leading and empowering strong engineering teams
- Proven track record of developing robust and secured enterprise web services
- Development Methodologies: MVC with .NET Core, REST APIs, Microservices, experience on .NET Framework is helpful but not must have, streaming platforms like Kafka is good to have too.
- Test Automation: Unit/Integration/Acceptance testing experience with Selenium.
- Frontend Technologies: HTML5, CSS and Javascript. Also one of the JS frameworks - either Angular or React
- Programming Languages: C# with good knowledge of OOPS concepts and design patterns. Any Java knowledge is good to have.
- CI/CD: Any Git tool for source control. Build tools like TeamCity or Jenkins and experience with deployment tooling like Octopus or similar.
- Databases: Either of the relational databases like MSSQL / Oracle. Also any No-SQL database like MongoDB is good to have.
- Cloud: Any Cloud offering knowledge is a very strong asset.
- Display of natural curiosity and enthusiasm about learning new languages, frameworks and tools
- Passion for delivering quality customer experience as well as writing quality code for reusability and scalability
- Solid enterprise application architecture experience in design patterns, concurrency and performance
Education Qualification :-
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
