About the Role:

As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of talented software engineers, focusing on delivering high-quality software solutions. You will play a key role in fostering a productive team culture and ensuring the successful execution of projects. Your leadership will contribute to the development and maintenance of efficient, scalable software systems, promoting high-quality, maintainable, and reliable coding practices. You will be responsible for keeping the technology stack up to date, managing technical debt, and ensuring your team's continuous learning and development.


Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Ensure the development and maintenance of a well-structured, efficient, and scalable software system.
  • Promote the production of high-quality code that is maintainable, reliable, and adheres to best practices.
  • Stay current with industry advancements to keep our technology stack relevant and optimal.
  • Manage technical debt, working towards a codebase that’s more maintainable and less prone to issues over time.
  • Set a positive example through your technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and strategic thinking.

Team Development:

  • Build and nurture a cohesive, high-performing team:
  • Collaborate effectively to achieve team objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and support, fostering continuous learning and skill development.
  • Conduct regular performance feedback sessions to encourage improvement and recognize accomplishments.
  • Mediate and resolve interpersonal conflicts to maintain a healthy work environment.
  • Encourage career growth and skill enhancement within the team.

Delivery Management:

  • Oversee the successful delivery of products:
  • Ensure adherence to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Allocate resources efficiently, optimizing execution and preventing wastage.
  • Identify and manage potential risks to delivery success, minimizing delays or issues.
  • Communicate clearly and timely with relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment on delivery progress and expectations.

Strategic Alignment with Business Objectives:

  • Align team efforts with overall business objectives.
  • Communicate strategic goals clearly to team members.
  • Facilitate effective communication between engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure that value-driven decisions are made throughout the project lifecycle.


Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing and delivering software development projects.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in a variety of programming languages and familiarity with modern software development tools and cloud environments.
  • A solid understanding of software development life cycle models and agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective stakeholder management.
