Role Overview:
The Engineering Manager is a visionary leader responsible for leading the engineering organization, shaping and executing the technology strategy across both country-specific and regional platforms, as well as overseeing the successful delivery of business solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of the insurance industry, technological trends, and the ability to bridge the gap between business objectives and technical execution. The role will involve building and managing high-performing engineering teams while collaborating cross-functionally with data and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Technology Strategy & Vision:
- Develop comprehensive technology strategy that supports Chubb's business objectives at both the country and regional levels.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, assessing their potential impact and relevance to the business.
- Evaluate and adopt technologies that enhance scalability, security and maintainability.
- Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, encouraging exploration
- Review key technical decisions and ensure alignment across teams
- Experience in architecting for Cloud and building high throughput, low latency systems
- Experience in patterns of legacy modernization
- Business Delivery & Execution:
- Oversee the successful delivery of technology solutions that support business objectives across various countries and regions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate them into technical requirements, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Foster strong partnerships with project management and delivery teams, providing technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Adopt, develop and implement appropriate KPI/OKR to understand how the technology organization is progressing in effectiveness and productivity.
Technical Excellence
- Designing, development, and implementation of scalable solutions and platforms, ensuring robust architecture and seamless integration across services.
- Drive engineering initiatives that enhance functionality, performance, and security, enabling rapid deployment and iterative development processes
Implement best practices in coding, testing, and deployment, emphasizing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks
- Hand-on experience implementing SRE and adopting it in an enterprise
- Innovation & Technical Leadership
- Utilize AI to enhance decision-making processes, boost developer productivity, and foster innovative solutions throughout the organization.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation.
- Ensure the organization remains competitive in the digital landscape by leveraging new technologies and methodologies
- Talent Management & Development:
- Attract, retain, and develop top technology talent, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

- Vendor & Partner Management:
- Manage relationships with key technology vendors and partners, ensuring they deliver value and support the organization's strategic goals.

- Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance to ensure optimal outcomes.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a “senior technology leader”, ideally in a technology-driven or digital-first company.
Strong background in digital strategy, product development, and innovation.
Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of software development, system architecture, network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
Experience with Cloud Computing: Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and services.
Data Management: Knowledge in data analytics, data storage solutions, and database management.
DevOps and Agile Methodologies: Understanding of software development methodologies, agile practices, and how to implement DevOps principles.
Extensive experience with data analytics, machine learning, AI, and emerging technologies.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to inspire and mentor teams.
Ability to work collaboratively with executives and stakeholders across all business functions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Prior experience with legacy modernization and SRE for enterprise.
