Who we areAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Startup Products team builds Stripe Atlas and other products that help founders start and run a company, from anywhere in the world. We believe that startups are one of the most effective ways to solve the world's problems, and we want to give founders a running start — and keep them running. We help founders form their company, raise capital, execute critical legal agreements, access the internet's best tools, and automate operations while feeling ambitious, smart, and assured. Our goal is to create more startups that get to product-market fit, fast.

Our team is composed of high-agency, high-ownership product thinkers, who genuinely care about helping founders and making it easier to start and run a startup. Every person on the team is responsible for making our product the best it can be, and for ensuring our roadmap contains the highest impact ships for founders.

What you’ll do

As an engineering manager on the Startup Products team, you’ll lead a team of product engineers building software for founders and their agents. You’ll own delivery of an ambitious roadmap, and help us shape products used by global founders to build their businesses.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of founder-obsessed product engineers
  • Drive our roadmap, working with Product and Strategy to prioritize, scope, and deliver product that solve problems for Atlas users
  • Ensure we ship both quickly and reliably, prioritizing stability and observability
  • Encourage simple and straightforward solutions to problems, and help the team scope work that they can ship incrementally
  • Be the voice of our user, the startup founder, encouraging engineers to talk directly to users and reframe problems from the perspective of our users
  • Build a culture of metrics and measurement. We’ve defined metrics that give us confidence we are solving problems for users, and we prioritize work that supports this.
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • Have a track record of leading teams that build excellent products
  • 3+ years of engineering management and 10+ years of engineering experience
  • Have managed full stack engineering teams
  • Care deeply about the user experience and take pride in building products to solve problems and delight users
  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for systems that will last and scale
  • Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and partners: we work closely with designers, product managers, lawyers, and data scientists
  • Have a high quality bar, attention to detail, and you help your team deliver polished products
