Engineering Manager - Pricing and Charging (m/f/d)

Your Role

As the Engineering Manager, you will lead and manage one of our key software development teams, driving the development and architecture of our billing management solution and related tooling within our software ecosystem. This system enables the streaming of real-time platform events and the implementation of flexible rating and billing mechanisms applied to a massive device fleet. 

This role is crucial in shaping the direction of our platform architecture and contributing to the growth and cohesion of the team. Your focus will be on fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and autonomy, aligning team goals with organizational objectives, and ensuring that your team operates effectively within the broader business context. 

Location: Berlin, Würzburg, or remote in Germany. 

Your Impact

1. Team Leadership: Foster a collaborative and unified team environment, empowering autonomy while providing necessary guidance. Align team goals with organizational objectives to ensure success.
2. People Management: Lead as a people manager, utilizing coaching and mentoring techniques to support individual development and team performance. Promote open, honest communication and trust within the team.
3. Planning & Delivery: Facilitate roadmap planning, monitor progress, and ensure that quality standards are met. Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans that enhance team productivity.
4. Technical Guidance: Support the team in making sound technical and architectural decisions. Bring innovative ideas from the industry, ensuring that the team’s work aligns with broader organizational goals.
5. Accountability: Take responsibility for the team’s overall performance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and successful execution of tactical plans.

Your Skills

1. Effective Communication: Proven ability to clearly express ideas and adapt communication to diverse audiences. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
2. Adaptability: Experience in strategically navigating team priorities and driving results, ensuring team success while managing capacity planning and tactical execution.
3. Problem-solving: Strong ability to proactively identify and analyze solutions, make effective decisions, and turn challenges into opportunities for team success.
4. Relationship Building: Skilled at promoting collaboration and unity within the team, building trust and rapport, and providing mentorship to support individual development.
5. Technical Understanding: Solid technical background, with familiarity in large-scale, high-availability, and cloud-native platforms, ideally including Scala, Kafka Streams, Java, or TypeScript. Capable of guiding and supporting the team in architectural decisions, though hands-on involvement is not required.
