Software Engineering Manager - PaaS


Why We Have This Role

Qualtrics is seeking a hands-on, product-minded Software Engineering Manager to join our growing ETL Workflows Platform team in our Mexico City office. You will lead and grow a team of talented engineers responsible for designing, building, and operating highly scalable, mission-critical services that power our ETL and data automation products. This key leadership role blends deep technical expertise with mentoring passion and architectural decision-making for distributed systems, primarily built with Go, NodeJS on the backend and React on the frontend, all running on AWS.

  • Collaborate effectively with managers and cross-functional teams.

  • Stay hands-on by participating in code reviews, technical design discussions, and occasionally contributing to the codebase.\
  • Ensure operational excellence including monitoring, alerting, and performance of your services.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop top engineering talent to build a world-class team.

How You’ll Grow

  • Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams to define the technical vision and roadmap for our data automation and connector ecosystem.
  • Drive architectural decisions and promote engineering best practices for building robust, scalable, and maintainable microservices.
  • Develop your leadership by guiding the team through complex, large-scale software product shipping and operation.
  • Expand Qualtrics’ presence as a central engineering hub in Mexico City within our PaaS business unit.
  • Take on a leadership role influencing Qualtrics product engineering leadership across regions.

Things You’ll Do

  • Own the engineering roadmap for the ETL Workflows Platform and collaborate with stakeholders to build quarterly plans.
  • Actively manage, mentor, and coach your team, fostering professional development and strong team culture.
  • Instill best practices for software development and documentation, ensuring high-quality deliverables on time.
  • Guide your team to develop scalable microservices and event-driven platforms supporting core infrastructure for Qualtrics clients.
  • Work closely with global clients to provide solutions and ensure outstanding customer experiences.
  • Help grow the Mexico site and global engineering team by implementing hiring plans and career development strategies.

What We’re Looking For On Your Resume

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong background in backend or full-stack engineering.
  • 3+ years of formal experience managing a team of software engineers.
  • Proven experience shipping and operating complex, large-scale software products.
  • Experience with modern cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Hands-on proficiency or strong knowledge of Go, NodeJS, TypeScript, and/or Java.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven platforms (e.g., Kafka).
  • Passion for building intuitive and powerful developer platforms and tools.
  • Experience building AI-powered products or working with machine learning platforms.
  • Experience building and shipping enterprise-grade SaaS/PaaS solutions for US-based customers.

  • The ETL Workflows Platform Organization is the central nervous system for all customer data movement within Qualtrics.
  • We own core infrastructure empowering clients to load operational data into Qualtrics and extract experience data to their systems.
  • Our ecosystem includes connectors and low-code/no-code automation tools like Web Service
