Meet the Team 

The Operating System Team develops and maintains a light-weight in-house modified Linux distribution based on the usage of open source technologies. This also comprises the integration of third party libraries to efficiently run Machine Learning based Applications on NVIDIA target SoCs as wall as the development, operation and maintenance of the required build-system technologies. 

What You’ll Do

  • Create and drive team roadmap in compliance to the company goals 
  • Work on Linux kernel modules 
  • Incorporate Linux Distribution in to build and deployment toolchain 
  • Perform system-level debugging and performance tuning 
  • Develop shell scripts and automation tools 
  • Troubleshoot system issues and optimize performance 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, QA, Hardware, Networking) 
  • Ensure system security, stability, and scalability 
  • Contribute to documentation and technical design discussions 
  • Hiring and building up a high-performance team to support product development 
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the 7-10 direct reports and project team members 
  • Guide the team to set, track and achieve goals aligned with company-wide vision, goals and initiatives 
  • Fostering and reinforcing a culture of continuous learning and relentless process improvement 
  • Ensure continuous team goal setting, career pathing and professional development, tracking competencies, employee team building and training, performance management, work prioritization, re- source management and controlling expenses, and reinforces systems, policies, and procedures. 

Trains staff, maintains training records, ensures appropriate and continuous training. Proactive change and conflict management in support of Torc's core values. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or engineering equivalent & 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of Engineering Management Experience
  • Strong experience with Linux development for Embedded Systems 
  • Strong knowldge in building real time Embedded Systems for automotive or similar industries 
  • Experience in certification of safety critical systems 
  • Understanding of bootloaders and hypervisors. 
  • Knowledge of build systems (Make, CMake, Yocto, Buildstream) 
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming 
  • Experience with Shell scripting (Bash) 
  • Strong understanding of Linux kernel architecture 
  • Familiarity with system calls, memory management, and process management 
  • Experience with Git or other version control systems 
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, SSH, HTTP) 
  • Experience with debugging tools like GDB, strace, and Valgrind 
  • Experience in the certification process of automotive products 
  • You enjoy working in an agile environment 
  • Prior team leadership and management experience of 5+ years 
  • 7+ experience in building and delivering software for safety critical and real time embedded systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several geographic markets. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Torc's total compensation package will also include our corporate bonus and stock option plan. Dependent on the position offered, sign-on payments, relocation, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
