What you will do
Engineering Manager I – Hardware In this role, you will be part of product development team to manage and deliver new product functionalities, modify existing product’s functionalities, or improve product functionalities as required. The Engineering Manager I - Hardware will provide general supervision and technical guidance to the Embedded HW development group in the design, development and test of HW product Development for Fire detection systems. You will work within a multi-disciplined engineering team consisting of electronics engineers, mechanical engineers, PCB Layout design engineers, Manufacturing, suppliers and supply chain firmware engineers, software engineers, programmers and scientists focusing on applied research and new technology innovations to provide new and improved products and solutions for our customers.
How will you do it
• Define department goals and objectives and communicate these to the staff.
Responsible for owning the Product Functional Specification of the product and associated technical documentation and communication with Regulatory teams and manufacturing teams
Work closely with members of cross-functional teams (analog, digital, RF, Mechanical, PCB Layout, Software, PV&V)
Hands-on experience with Microcontroller and Microprocessor based embedded design and development; Good technical skills in DFMEA, VA/VE, DFM, DFT, Failure and Root cause analysis
Also supervises HW Team/Technical Leads and designers in the design, development and testing of HW Design and products as per program within the specific timeframes required.
Manages department and overall expectations pertaining to ensuring optimum use of resources and administers and monitors use against budget
Ensures delivery against HW development department goals and objectives, i.e. meeting commitments and coordinating overall product development schedule.
Manages the planning and execution of development, including all associated resources to meet committed delivery dates.
Ensures estimations of efforts and schedules for various programs based on resource competency, resource availability.
Drives KPIs to ensure first time right, no efforts and schedule variance.
Effectively communicate program status to Functional and business leaders.
Provides effective communication regarding issues, objectives, initiatives and performance to plan
Works with Project/program Managers to develop project schedules and resource allocation models for Hardware development.
Liaise with Embedded Firmware, SW, Verification and Validation in the development of quality review of products under development.
Liaise with other functional manager –EMB FW, PC SW, V&V, Design office and program managers.
Participates in the evaluation of hardware and software compatibility recommending program specifications.
Recommends program refinements and changes to better achieve desired functionality and/or enhance program capabilities. Counsels’ designers in the use of various design tools.
Facilitate and ensures individual and team roles and responsibilities are understood; performance measurement objectives are identified, measured and monitored on an ongoing basis to provide feedback and take necessary action to address shortfalls. Involved in employment issues, such as staffing, termination and employee relations issues.
Ensures a positive work environment and awareness by all staff of company goals and objectives.
Make recommendations regarding verification and validation procedures and processes to improve the quality of the team(s) and hardware group.
Follows and ensures workplace operating and environmental, health and safety procedures and guidelines compliance.

Preferred
• BE/BTech/ME/MTech (ECE/EIE/ETC/CSE) Degree in a technical field is required.
• 14+ yrs experience on Hardware end to end product design along with 3+ years in
managerial experience
• Experience in leading Hardware Product Development for Industrial Product.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards for EN and UL for industrial products.
