We unify fragmented feedback from every touchpoint, including sales calls, support tickets, and research, into a single AI-powered intelligence layer that empowers every team to build, sell, and serve with confidence. Founded in 2017, we are a team of 100+ across our offices in Sydney and San Francisco, working with thousands of teams from Fortune 500 companies to the world’s most innovative startups.

The best never guess. We help teams turn the noise of thousands of customer interactions into the signal required to move faster, prioritize better, and drive revenue.

We're all about sweating the details on delightful experiences, tackling ambitious technical challenges, and delivering customer value. We've got ambitious goals for the future of our customer intelligence platform and we're looking for an Engineering Manager who will lead and grow the engineering team responsible for developing our next generation next generation AI powered data ingestion and classification platform. We're looking for someone with a product mindset, a strong interest in AI, who shares our values and knows that culture is the foundation of any high-performing team.

What you’ll do
  • Lead our Data Ingestion & AI team. You'll be responsible for the overall performance of the engineering team behind the engine that powers Dovetail’s customer intelligence platform. You'll help build and improve how Dovetail takes millions of customer feedback signals and converts them into actionable insights.

  • Build and develop a high-performing team. You'll manage engineers and future leaders, helping them develop their teams while nurturing a collaborative and high-performing culture.

  • Drive innovation and experimentation. You'll create an environment that encourages calculated risk-taking and rapid iteration to identify and validate new product opportunities that align with our company vision.

  • Bridge product and engineering. You'll work closely with product leadership to translate strategic product initiatives into engineering deliverables, making difficult scoping decisions while maintaining technical excellence.

  • Champion technical quality and scalability. As we develop new products, you'll ensure we build on a solid technical foundation that can scale with our growth, balancing innovation with stability.

What you’ll bring
  • You've led engineering teams for new product or platform initiatives. You've experienced the challenges of building and validating new products in the face of ambiguity. You know how to create focus and motivation while building trust in your leadership.

  • Experience managing engineers. You've managed software and AI engineers for 3+ years and are comfortable giving and receiving feedback to motivate and steer them to success. You know what good looks like, can confidently identify areas for improvement, provide timely guidance, and motivate them to reach their goals.

  • You've balanced innovation with execution. You understand how to create space for exploration while delivering tangible outcomes. You're experienced in moving products from concept to production, making appropriate trade-offs along the way.

  • Have a strong product development background. You've managed complex technical projects and know how to build products and features from scratch. You've partnered with product management and design leaders to make difficult scoping and design decisions in order to regularly deliver valuable features to customers.

  • You excel at cross-functional collaboration. You've successfully worked across engineering, product, and design to create cohesive product experiences. You're skilled at communicating engineering constraints and opportunities to non-technical stakeholders.

  • You know how to build great software. 8 years+ of software engineering experience in direct IC or management roles using object-oriented languages. You have a bachelor of computer science or equivalent industry experience, and possess strong knowledge of software engineering fundamentals at-scale.

Benefits
  • Equity for everyone. Along with a competitive base salary, we offer options to keep us focused on driving long-term impact.

  • An environment designed for doing your best work, wherever you are. Our Sydney office is designed to maximize in-person first collaboration, while our US team is supported with a flexible remote set up.

  • Join our community. Find your people in a Doveclub, bond with your team on the regular, celebrate small wins, big milestones and cultural events with the whole company.

  • Learn & Thrive. Quench your thirst for knowledge with our generous L&D allowance or get support to Thrive, not just survive, using our wellness budget.

  • Ample PTO. Time off for the hard work you put in. 4 weeks accrued leave, floating public holidays and additional Kit Kat days throughout the year.

  • Work from anywhere. Up to 4 weeks per year to do your job anywhere in the world.

  • Generous parental leave. We offer up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave to support new parents.

  • 4 weeks at 4 years. 4 years is a long time in tech, and we value loyalty. Take a well-earned break of 4 weeks off on Dovetail.

  • Stellar benefits for those located in the US. Comprehensive health, dental, vision, 401(K) and more offered through Sequoia.

At Dovetail, we’re passionate about building and fostering an environment where every team member feels supported and valued.
