About the Role:
The API Team is responsible for all external interactions with DriveWealth trading platform. You will learn from and contribute to a modern Java code base that is highly concurrent and in many places follows reactive style programming. Our jobs run in the cloud using many advanced AWS services. We still use some of the typical enterprise messaging services (Kafka/ActiveMQ), and caching technologies (Redis), etc.
The Engineer Manager on the offshore API team works collaboratively with our engineers in the New York office, and business teams to build next generation features and enhancements to our API platform to help our clients build innovative investing solutions at scale.
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for the technical design and delivery of new Java projects using modern, cutting-edge technology
- Develop enhancements to existing applications and build new applications from the ground up
- Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and assist in remediation fixes
- Ownership of the bi-weekly release process including:
- Maintain a checklist of items that need to be crossed off for every release. Constantly improve upon the process and get RFC’s from other team members
- Manage communications internally and externally regarding different stages of the release
- Understand regression test patterns and track release milestones to identify any potential risks to delivery of products or to release schedules
- Understand of all release items going out in releases at a high level from jira tickets and product owners and over time build up knowledge regarding the intricacies of different systems and be able to sanity test them by building an extensive collection of queries
- Code review pull requests from peers and make technical evaluations of code and provide guidance to junior developers
- Work with the product, front-end, operations, and trading teams to support and enhance the APIs
What You'll Need:
- At least 6-8 years of experience in back-end software development using OOP/Functional principles
- Hands-on experience with Java preferred with working knowledge of Java 21/17/11/8 versions
- Expert understanding of AWS, RESTful API development, Spring Framework, and Java servlet containers
- Functional knowledge of Git, Maven, or similar CI/CD pipeline tools
- Experience operating in 24x7, highly-available architectures
- Deep understanding of NoSQL and SQL databases, and distributed caching environments
- Swagger, API versioning and writing/maintaining code for public facing API contracts
- Unit/Integration tests with Mockito/JUnit or a similar framework
- Understanding of JSON, JMS message types and Message Brokers like AMQ/Kafka
- Familiarity with Java 8 coding standards and best practices for application development
- Communication and problem solving skills to effectively communicate developments back and forth between onsite and offshore teams
- Proven experience and ability to mentor, lead, and manage a small team of engineers
Compensation: €6583-€7000 per month
