What You'll Do:
- Roadmap ambiguous opportunities into a clear, value-driven backlog; partner with Product and Design leads to define and deliver on goals.
- Lead by example by contributing to critical PRs, prototypes, and production debugging. Uphold high design and review standards.
- Coach, hire and retain a high-performing, diverse engineering team. Run weekly 1:1’s and foster career growth.
- Collaborate with peer EMs to evolve our engineering tooling, hiring bar, and cross-team best practices.
- Deliver compelling products, features and services while providing transparent updates, timeline estimates, and demos along the way.
- Optimize processes and remove impediments to sustain velocity, quality, and reliability.
- Support partner teams in triaging and resolving production issues, including participating in on-call rotation.
What You Should Have:
- Demonstrated success designing, integrating, and scaling LLM-backed features such as chat assistants, content generation, semantic search, or agentic workflows.
- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js in the context of delivering scalable, user-facing applications.
- 3+ years of engineering management experience leading high-functioning teams, with clear examples of how you supported productivity and team health.
- Strong computer science fundamentals applied at scale, backed by a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience such as training or fellowships.
- Excellent communication skills, translating complex technical concepts to cross-functional partners and leading difficult conversations constructively.
- Contagious enthusiasm for AI's potential to empower users, not just today, but in shaping the future of tools that help instructional designers and learning teams create impactful training and development content
Nice to Haves:
- Proficiency in a related field such as Applied AI, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Data Science, or Applied Mathematics.
- Experience working with AI libraries and frameworks such as Vercel's AI SDK, LangChain, or similar tools that facilitate building LLM-powered applications.
- Experience leading software projects that ensure reliability in non-deterministic systems while addressing bias mitigation and upholding transparency, fairness, and ethical AI standards.
