- Provide coaching on people management, conflict resolution, and organizational dynamics
- Design and implement leadership development programs for technical leaders
- Create leadership frameworks and best practices tailored to a technologist-led organization
- Serve as an additional source of engineering leadership and management expertise
Career Development & Growth
- Provide personalized career coaching to engineers seeking guidance beyond technical growth
- Facilitate skill development planning and career pathing discussions
- Identify growth opportunities across components and help engineers pursue them
- Create mentorship programs to enhance career development across the organization
- Support engineers in setting meaningful career goals and tracking progress
Colombia Office Leadership
- Serve as primary engineering leadership presence for the Colombia office
- Build strong relationships with the Colombia engineering team
- Ensure Colombia engineers are effectively integrated into component teams
- Identify and address unique needs of the Colombia engineering organization
- Facilitate communication between US and Colombia engineering teams
- Provide localized career development support for Colombia-based engineers
Strategic Initiative Management
- Own and drive strategic engineering initiatives from inception to implementation
- Create frameworks and processes to ensure strategic initiatives gain traction
- Coordinate cross component initiatives and ensure alignment with technical leadership
- Track progress and outcomes of strategic initiatives and report to VP
Organizational Effectiveness
- Develop and track engineering metrics and KPIs across components
- Identify organizational bottlenecks and implement solutions
- Standardize engineering practices where beneficial across components
- Provide an additional management perspective for complex organizational decisions
People & Culture Support
- Assist with complex HR situations that Principal Engineers lack experience handling
- Partner with Principal Engineers on performance management challenges
- Support career pathing and growth plans for engineering staff
- Help resolve interpersonal conflicts when they exceed technical leaders' capabilities
- Serve as an additional leadership resource for engineers seeking management support
VP Support & Delegation
- Serve as a force multiplier for the VP of Engineering
- Take ownership of selected tactical responsibilities to free VP capacity
- Represent the VP in meetings and decision making when appropriate
- Provide insights and recommendations on organizational health and improvement
- Act as a sounding board for the VP on complex leadership challenges
Qualifications
- Proven engineering leadership experience with strong organizational and people skills
- Experience mentoring technical leaders and developing leadership capabilities
- Track record of successful career coaching and development for engineering professionals
- Strong project and program management skills with ability to drive initiatives to completion
- Excellent communication skills across cultural and organizational boundaries
- Experience with or understanding of distributed/international engineering teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
