This Associate Software Engineer role is for a professional who is passionate about bringing business impact through digital transformation and deployment of scalable and reliable software solutions. The CF&O divisions have a large footprint of software applications to ensure the firm complies with the controls set forth in its policies and risk appetite, meet its regulatory obligations, and to protect the firm’s reputation. To meet the demand of the business, driven by the size and complexity of the entire firm, the candidate will have the mandate to continuously increase the level of automation and to modernize and consolidate our software stacks. In addition, data is at the center of what we do. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experiences in and a passion for solving critical problems related to data modelling and data curation including data quality, warehousing, and analytics.
How You Will Fulfill Your Potential:
- Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that provides exposure to all areas of Finance
- Build strong relationships with business partners
- Understand business needs, facilitating and developing process workflow, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementation
- Develop technical specifications, high level/detailed design, testing strategies, and implementation plans from business requirements
- Manage end-to-end systems development cycle from requirements analysis, coding, testing, UAT and maintenance
- Exploring new and emerging technologies as needed by the project
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline
- 3+ years of relevant experience in software development, including a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, core programming concepts and experience with continuous delivery and deployment
- Excellent communicator who is comfortable engaging stakeholders, both verbally and written
- A strong problem solver, organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment with delivery focus as part of a global team
- Preferably experienced managing small to mid-size teams
- Strong programming experience in at least one compiled language (e.g. Java, C++)
- Full Stack experience with industry standard frameworks and tools (e.g. React, SpringBoot, DropWizard, Maven, Web/RESTful service development)
- Knowledge of relational and columnar SQL databases, including database design
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in the financial services domain delivering software to front-office users or Controllers/Finance/Accounting teams
- Experience in delivering solutions built on cloud-based, large-scale data analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake)
- Experience working with vendor or in-house data catalog platforms (e.g. Unity Catalog, Open Catalog, Apache Polaris)
