Engineering Intern supporting equipment and component design, dimensional and facility layout drawings, documentation, and implementation projects at a pasta manufacturing facility. The role uses 2D AutoCAD, collaborates with operations and maintenance teams, and develops familiarity with manufacturing and food safety practices.

Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for an Engineering Intern at our Carrington, ND durum milling and pasta production facility, where we produce Dakota Growers pasta. 

  • Responsible for drafting, equipment and part design, and implementation of designed components.
  • Development of component dimensional drawings, updating facility layout drawings, and new component concept drawings using 2D AutoCAD software.
  • Equipment documentation to improve component fabrication resource.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and management personnel to successfully complete assigned projects.
  • Learn good manufacturing and food safety practices.
  • Other duties, as assigned
  • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have experience with mS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Must be able to deal with multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Successful completion of at least 6 semesters of an accredited Bachelor’s Degree Program in Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Industrial Engineering Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other applicable engineering field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD software
  • Previous experience in an Engineering Internship role   

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for 6+ hours per day
  • Must be able to lift-up to 34 pounds 6+ hours per day
  • Must be able to push, pull, grasp and use fine motor skills for 6+ hours per day
  • Must be able to make fine distinctions in sound, and express ideas by spoken and written word
  • Must be able to balance, bend, crouch, kneel and stoop for 3+ hours per day
  • Must be able to reach above shoulders for 3+ hours per day
  • Must be able to climb on and off a ladder for 3+ hours per day
  • Must be able to work in a dusty environment for 3+ hours per day

Skills Required

  • Successful completion of at least six semesters of an accredited bachelor's degree program in agricultural and biosystems engineering, industrial engineering management, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or another applicable engineering field.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with 2D AutoCAD software.
  • Previous engineering internship experience.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including standing, walking, lifting up to 34 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in a dusty environment.
