We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Applications Engineer II to support our growing Semiconductor market alongside our Aerospace and Defense markets. The ideal candidate will have experience in semiconductor manufacturing processes and a strong understanding of sealing technologies used in vacuum, gas delivery, chemical processing, and high-purity applications. This role bridges engineering, sales, product development, and customer focus to deliver innovative sealing solutions that meet demanding semiconductor industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical resource for Sales and customers regarding sealing products and applications within semiconductor manufacturing environments.
- Evaluate customer requirements and recommend appropriate sealing solutions, including elastomer seals, O-rings, bonded seals, custom molded components, and advanced sealing materials.
- Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to design, develop, test, and validate new sealing products for end user equipment applications.
- Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle, including design reviews, qualification testing, failure analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot sealing performance issues in field and manufacturing environments.
- Support semiconductor OEMs and end users with product and material selection, installation recommendations, and performance optimization.
- Develop technical documentation, application notes, product specifications, test reports, and customer presentations.
- Partner with sales teams to identify opportunities, support customer visits, and deliver technical presentations.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging semiconductor technologies, materials advancements, and competitive products to support strategic product development.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product launches and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in applications engineering, product engineering, or technical support, role.
- Experience using 3D CAD software; Solidworks preferred, knowledge of FEA systems Preferred
- Strong computer literacy, especially in MS Office
- Ability to work in cross-functional team environment
- Effective communication skills with internal and external customers
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience with failure analysis and root cause investigations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering software tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing custom solutions for semiconductor OEM equipment.
- Understanding of sealing technologies, including O-rings, gaskets, elastomeric seals, engineered polymer seals, and high-purity sealing materials selection for aggressive chemicals, high temperatures, plasma environments, and ultra-high vacuum applications.
- Knowledge of key polymer families including FFKM, FKM, PTFE, PFA, or other advanced sealing materials.
- Familiarity with semiconductor industry standards and contamination control requirements.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) or seal design simulation tools.
- Experience supporting semiconductor equipment manufacturers, wafer fabrication facilities, or semiconductor materials suppliers.
- Working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including deposition, etch, lithography, CMP, vacuum systems, gas delivery systems, or wet process equipment.
- Understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and product qualification testing.
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments.
