About the Role
Supports technical work related to engineering activities. Serves as a liaison and coordinates engineering activities from concept through production testing. Participates in continuous improvement efforts and lessons learned. Researches, recommends, and implements or improves existing products processes, materials, technologies, and production capital equipment. The Engineering Intern will support the staff engineers to create and maintain the programs: DFMEA's, DVP's, BOM's, benchmarking, design review checklist, DFM/DFA checklists and any customer or internal Magna specific requirements. Performs other duties as required.
Your Responsibilities
• Support team efforts related to product, process, tooling, testing, and materials as it relates to product engineering activities.• Takes direction from other staff engineers and Engineering Managers for predevelopment engineering activities through the production phase. Understands and adheres to program schedule and reports progress as required.• Serves as a liaison and coordinates development activities of internal and external resources. Serves as a resource by providing a problem-solving function by initiating action to overcome obstacles as they are encountered.• Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements new and/or existing products, processes, materials and equipment. Engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate beneficial techniques.• Support team effort in benchmarking automotive and non-automotive parts when necessary. • Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals.
Who we are looking for
• Demonstrates ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and clearly articulate concepts, ideas, and other issues relating to product engineering.• Demonstrates ability to carry out projects from beginning to end in coordination with internal and external contacts and work on moderate to long-term assignments which are broad in nature. • Strong organizational, written and communication skills and able to deal with many projects at one time. Must be able to work independently.• Must be able to operate standard and specialized equipment/tools related to the job
Your preferred qualifications
• Enrolled in Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering or related field with strong desire to understand product engineering practices, principles, processes, etc.; or equivalent.• Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)• Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Strong organizational, written and communication skills and able to deal with many projects at one time. Must be able to work independently.
• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
