Hunton Engineered Products (HEP), a team within Hunton Services, is seeking to hire an experienced and driven Mechanical Designer to join our team. The Mechanical Designer is responsible for drafting, designing and documenting commercial and industrial HVAC products for both new product development (NPD) and modification of existing equipment for special use. This individual will join a new and exciting team as the CAD design lead with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations and 3rd party partners.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for parts, assemblies and layouts of assigned HVAC products.
- Develop and maintain Bills of Material (BOM) and engineering documentation.
- Support new product development of innovative HVAC equipment as well as our modified equipment business
- Translate verbal and/or written instructions into drawings of HVAC products.
- Demonstrate working knowledge and manage change control, bills of material, product definition & selection, sheet metal fabrication, machine design, GD&T and tolerance analysis, electrical and electronics, piping, brazing and welding.
- Select mechanical components and materials to meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
- Maintain proper document control and revision management.
- Manage project schedules for assigned projects.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Design or Engineering Technology (or related discipline) 5+ years work experience in CAD design is required; OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree
- Strong understanding of HVAC equipment with preference toward commercial RTUs, DOAS and wall-mounted A/Cs (DX equipment)
- Proficiency in design software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar
- New product development (NPD) experience
- Must have full work authorization in the US. No sponsorship is available
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Bachelor’s Degree a plus
- Familiarity with industry standards (ASME, ANSI, ISO)
- Ability to influence and drive change
- Knowledge of drafting standards and best practices
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint)

Skills Required
