The Secure Sensor Solutions (S3) Strategic Business Unit at Raytheon Intelligence & Space supports the warfighter with innovative, secure integrated sensor solutions. These include advanced fire control radars, Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars, airborne early warning systems, GPS and navigation systems, and embedded secure systems.

Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RIS) is growing! We have an immediate career-growth opportunity for a collaborative and skilled Systems Engineer; we hire innovative thinkers wishing to work with emerging technologies on tactical defense solutions recognized around the world.

The Senior Engineer will join our Systems Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN, supporting a V22 development effort that includes next generation avionics, software development, and integration to address our customer's need for rapid capability integration, improved safety postures, digital interoperability and communications. The Systems Engineering Team provides technical leadership to the engineering team, serving as a primary point of contact between RIS and key stakeholders external to the organization and between the Agile team(s) and program leadership. Main responsibilities include managing customer/stakeholder requirements and the decomposition of those requirements into product system requirements; planning system testing and the development and automation of test cases, scripts and execution; development of system architectures and designs for embedded systems; and developing and complying with the SEMP (Systems Engineering Management Plan).

General Background:

  • Minimum of 8 years related experience in systems or engineering.
  • Experience with developing embedded avionics systems
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with multiple levels of management and individual contributors on teams
  • Experience with IBM DOORS, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite, and other systems engineering and architecture tools
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance with 1 year of starting
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with performing programmatic and technical reviews throughout the lifecycle of a product
  • Experience with development within an agile development environment as a scrum master, product owner or individual contributor
  • Experience with managing customer/stakeholder requirements and the decomposition into product system requirements
  • Experience with requirements managements and allocation to functional areas/lower level development
  • Experience with requirements management in DOORS
  • Experience with the development of system architectures and designs for embedded systems.
  • Experience with the developing and complying with processes outline in a System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) or other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with hardware & software integration and requirements based verification.
  • Experience with system test planning and the development and automation of test cases, scripts and execution.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with the V-22 aircraft and platform support processes
  • Experience with Military standards such as Mil-HDBK-516C, MIL-STD-882E, etc.
  • Experience with commercial development standards including ARP-4754A, ARP-4761, DO-178C and/or DO-254 standards for avionics
  • Experience working with government customers including the USMC and USAF
  • Experience working with Cybersecurity Solutions
  • Experience with model based development in Cameo and/or SCADE
  • Familiarity with Standard Government Deliverable documentation.
  • Familiarity with Raytheon company policies & procedures
  • Current Active DoD Secret or higher Clearance
