The role

The Senior Simulation Test Engineer will report to the Lead System Test Engineer and will be responsible for developing and executing simulation tests to support the verification and validation of the Outrider’s software. 


This position plays an essential role in helping deliver a safety-critical system for logistics automation. The opportunity offers a very talented, self-starting engineer the chance to help develop a market-defining enterprise product that combines autonomous vehicle technology with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model.


The ideal candidate will embrace our goal to drive zero-emission, self-driving vehicle adoption, and help us realize our potential to define, build, and lead a new, category of robotic automation for the enterprise.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Define required simulation capabilities and work with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve the desired simulation tool capability 
  • Support the requirements generation process by participating in requirements reviews to ensure requirements are necessary, attainable and verifiable 
  • Design, organize and conduct Simulation tests that support verification and validation activities
  • Lead day-to-day test activities and debug Simulation test issues
  • Conduct detailed root-cause analysis on issues found during testing using common problem solving methods; document all findings in JIRA
  • Develop data analysis scripts and visualization tools to quickly extract key learnings 
  • Effectively communicate test results and issues to the System Test Lead and peers in Engineering
  • Advise Engineering teams on the creation of new testable system requirements in response test results
  • Develop test automation capabilities to support an efficient system release process
  • Mentor and coach less senior team members to grow their technical skills and personal attributes
  • Work with the team to understand and prioritize test exceptions and help drive toward a product that meets all customer, business, and technical expectations

Required qualifications

  • Ability to read C++ and Python code
  • Ability to interpret software testing artifacts and map these back to the relevant components in the software stack
  • Comfortable with Linux and command-line interface
  • Proven capability in problem-solving complex systems, software, or robotics
  • Experience with the software development life cycle, modern software/hardware/system testing methods, and continuous integration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sterling references

Ideal qualifications

  • Experience testing autonomous vehicles or ADAS features in a simulation environment
  • Experience with Simian, CarSim, TruckSim, GazeboSim or other vehicle simulation tools
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with RobotFramework
  • Experience using Git

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary range of $125,000 - $165,000.
