As a Senior Circuit Design Engineer in the Analog/Mixed-Signal and Memory Solutions team in Microsoft's Silicon Engineering and Solutions organization, you'll work with a team of highly talented and passionate engineers to design custom digital circuits for SRAM and Register Files. You will be expected to work closely with architects to define the specification for the custom designs so that Microsoft products differentiate on power, performance, and area. You will also collaborate with multiple teams - physical design, logic, layout, DFT and production engineering - as part of the design cycle. You will solely own the design starting from schematic entry to final gds tapeout, including post-silicon characterization work.
In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with the architecture team to define the custom memory specifications
  • Feasibility studies to explore different design choices
  • Design and implement digital circuits to meet power, timing, area and yield specifications
  • Write functional RTL of the custom designs
  • Work with the layout team to improve the quality of the GDS
  • Timing and power characterizations
  • Functional and timing verification of the design
  • Deliver physical and timing views for integration
  • Assist DFT team with custom BIST tests
  • EM/IR drop analysis
  • Identify design automation opportunities and work with the methodology team to implement solutions
  • Post-silicon characterization

Qualifications Required Qualifications:
MS or BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or equivalent with at least 7 years of engineering experience
5+ years experience with designing high performance and low power SRAM and register file circuits
2+ years experience with RLL modeling
2+ years expeirince with various industry standard tools like:

  • Cadence Virtuoso
  • Functional verification: ESP-CV
  • CAD Tool language experience: tcl , Skill
  • Calibre physical verification: LVS, DRC, ERC, PERC
  • Synopsys StarRC Extraction
  • Simulation: ADE, CustomSim , Spice, Spectre
  • STA/Characterization: NanoTime, PrimeTime , SiliconSmart , Solido
  • EMIR analysis: Totem, Voltus -Fi

Qualifications:
Knowledge of cache design and memory hierarchy
Strong fundamentals in process and device physics
Working knowledge of RTL modeling
Solid understanding of various industry standard tools like:
Shell and other scripting languages for automation of tasks is a big plus
