Job Description

Looking for an Android Engineer to help shape and scale our growing portfolio of In-Store products. This person will focus on the brand new In-Store set of features in the PayPal Android app allowing users to make QR code payments, Pay at the Pump, Sign-Up for Loyalty, and many other In-Store use cases.

Our team is made up of Android, iOS, and backend engineers with a diverse range of backgrounds and experience levels. We are enthusiastic about keeping current with the latest technologies and are continuously looking for ways to bring them into our tech stack. We encourage differing technical viewpoints to drive us toward delivering the best customer experience possible.
We strive to improve and automate as many of our processes as possible and are dedicated to making our team's developer experience a great one. We value ego-free code reviews, have a focus that guides us to build our apps and services with high quality in mind, follow security best practices to protect our customers, and ingrain a culture of continuous improvement into our team DNA through regular architecture reviews, demos, and project retros.

About You:
3+ years of professional Android software development experience.
Good knowledge of Java and Kotlin (including coroutines).
Expert understanding of the Android System APIs, and Android app lifecycle.
Knowledge of open-source and commercial libraries commonly used in the Android ecosystem, including android architecture components, Jetpack libraries, and Retrofit.
Knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code.
Experience with implementing user interface designs.
Knowledge of design patterns such as MVVM.
Skilled at writing Unit tests and automation tests with Espresso.
Adept at using written and verbal communication to explain technical issues to a non-technical audience.
Comfortable working in an Agile environment

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Experience with GraphQL
Experience with iOS
