Who We Want
The Quality Engineering Manager will implement and improve the overall strategy of the Quality Engineering organization, as well as manage a distributed team of both automation and manual quality engineers. They will work alongside engineering leadership to establish vision and direction for the Quality organization, and directly manage the day to day operations of their teams. This position requires a full understanding of business objectives in order to ensure product outcomes are aligned with those objectives.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage a team of manual and automation engineers, ensuring members of the team's performance align with the overall department goals by holding direct reports accountable to performance expectations.
- Hire, train, and develop a team of manual and automation engineers.
- Responsible for the overall quality of every project from testing, acceptance, regression, deployment and incident reviews.
- Oversee the coordination of testing expectations for both automation and manual efforts.
- Oversee manual test case development, ensuring consistency across teams.
- Manage automation intake, and develop processes for the lifecycle of quality engineering.
- Oversee test automation development and ensure consistency across all test engineers.
- Coordinate and execute the end of sprint release processes.
- Leverage resources to assure adequate manual and automated test coverage and establish best practices.
- Partner with engineering managers and product managers to ensure alignment on quality standards, understanding of QA processes and testing status.
- Track overall system quality and produce bug reports.
- Build and maintain product knowledge; occasionally participate in QA and test automation roles.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in software development with a focus in quality assurance
- 2+ years of managerial or leadership experience within a QA team
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum or other similar software development methodologies
- Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining QA processes and standards
- Demonstrated success in overhauling or enhancing existing QA processes, introducing modern testing methodologies, and implementing best practices
