We are looking for a QA Specialist to join Duolingo. As QA, we care deeply about helping Duolingo grow faster by delivering high-quality products.

This person will work embedded in software engineering product teams to ensure that the experience of learning a language on Duolingo is fun, effective, and bug-free. QA Specialists work with product managers, engineers, and designers to understand and test features to make a product that feels great. This person should have a strong product sense and be a champion to our learners.

A successful candidate will have an established background in testing, excellent time management skills, phenomenal communication skills, passion for quality, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

You will...

  • Perform regression and exploratory testing, sanity checks against Duolingo release and branch builds
  • Determine reproduction steps for issues
  • Acquire extensive knowledge about how the product works, and become a go-to person for questions about it
  • Ruthlessly prioritize projects. With so many teams needing help from QA, this skill is important to ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality work where it matters most
  • Test important features using iOS, Android, and Web platforms
  • Be empathetic towards learners and advocate for them across the company

You have...

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience in manual testing
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Basic familiarity with Duolingo products, such as the Duolingo app and our website.
  • Ability to relocate to Pittsburgh, PA

Outstanding candidates will have...

  • BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience and knowledge in processes and UI/UX testing (web and mobile)
  • Passion and skills in bug detection and isolation
