As a member of the Network, Security, and Internet Services(NSIS) Architecture team, you'll be working on strategic programs with responsibility for providing architectural and/or engineering leadership to key initiatives across the organization. You'll be expected to ensure that the programs align to the IT strategy, leverage enterprise components and capabilities, advance the state of our IT assets, and expand and improve on our enterprise architecture strategy. Since NSIS primarily has responsibility for network and security infrastructure, expertise in those areas is important. However, your breadth in other disciplines will help ensure we deliver appropriately broad perspectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Predict emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them.
  • Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business.
  • Participate in the development of business strategy.
  • Develop and manage business plans to achieve objectives.
  • Lead large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives.
  • Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences.
  • Influence senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products, and/or approaches.
  • May have segment-wide impact.
  • Direct cross-functional and/or cross-segment teams.
  • Drive the adoption of reference architectures for existing, new and emerging technologies.
  • Drive the adoption of creative solutions to address complex, global enterprise problems utilizing automation as well as DevOps principles.
  • Assist customer organizations with planning and implementing complex architecture solutions.
  • Participate in enterprise governance processes and drive standards adoption.
  • Develop effective architecture solutions that not only satisfy immediate project requirements but also deliver a coherent, reusable, reliable and phased architecture to help the business grow and change while aligning to strategic vision.
  • Deliver technical architecture expertise in implementing cross-organizational information sharing.
  • Develop solutions and recommendations for issues caused by process challenges, emerging threats, and technology changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Information Technology experience.
  • 3+ years of architecture/design experience.
  • Past project experience with network architecture, technical design, or implementation.
  • Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of personnel to explain and enforce architectural principles and designs.
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Assurance, Computer Science, Information. Systems or related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of Information Technology experience.
  • 5+ years of architecture/design experience.
  • In-depth experience with various cloud architecture designs, including AWS, Google Public Cloud and/or Azure.

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700.
