The Infrastructure Security Engineer position is a key technical position in a leading FinTech company (Solutran) that is operating independently as part of Optum Financial/UHG. The corporate headquarters is based in Plymouth, MN but this position is eligible for remote work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
This position will have a primary focus on enhancing and supporting a highly available payment processing infrastructure that is currently hosted on-prem but will be moving to the public cloud. The ideal candidate would have experience with complex system and network administration activities.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Must work in a team environment, which includes being involved in an on-call rotation
  • Provide essential communication skills while working with vendors and clients
  • Participate in weekly/monthly infrastructure maintenance exercises
  • Lead IT and Security projects in various scales
  • Handle new Security findings and work with appropriate teams to resolve findings
  • Demonstrate the need for security fundamentals and ensure policies and procedures are being executed across the environment
  • Configure, update, and maintain various software as required
  • Utilize various Security software to drive future work and projects with other teams
  • Utilize security best practices, to remediate findings in security audits (PCI, SOC, HIPPA, HISTRUST, etc.)
  • Provide subject matter expertise in enterprise security practices. (Firewall, MFA, email filtering, web filtering, DNS filtering, IDS/IPS, etc.)
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, patch, and updated server operating systems (Windows Server 2012-2022)
  • Assist and support with designing and implementing public cloud infrastructure for future scalability, and reliability (OCI, Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise on enterprise system administration
  • Identify technical threat mitigation best practices in the software and financial services industries. Propose new technologies and adapt strategies to evolving threat information
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and duties as needed to ensure a secure environment

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years systems administration with Windows Server infrastructure in a large enterprise
  • 3+ years assisting with security audits (PCI, HISTRUST, HIPPA, and SOC)
  • 3+ years of experience working with various security tools (SIEM, FIM, vuln scanners, AV, patch management)
  • 3+ years of experience with configuration and implementation of Security Protocols and IT Infrastructure
  • Experience working in and securing a cloud environment (O365, Azure, OCI)
  • General IT Security knowledge and apply best security practices


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid interpersonal skills, ability to mentor/train staff and bring awareness to current and emerging threats
  • Ability to work efficiently and self-motivate with little to no supervision


Where you will work:
This is a remote position but must be located in the United States and able to work without sponsorship.

This position does not require frequent travel.

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
