Job Description
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the day-to-day management of development teams. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for leading teams of software engineers who design, test and implement the next killer Daxko product. The Director of Engineering sets values and vision of the teams.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
An active coach and mentor for Engineering Managers along with Engineers of varying levels
Responsible for the growth of the Engineering team – including individuals’ career growth, skillset development, and hiring
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Align with Product Management to set the strategic direction of the product
Deliver business results and help define department goals
Provide architecture and design input of the product, with the ability to deep dive into technical details
Provide options and give input to high level decisions about the direction of Software Engineering Teams as a whole
Drive agile development methodologies every day
Strive to continuously improve the operations, processes, methodologies, technology choices and practices of the team
Interact with direct reports, customers, and peers to share information and improve cross-department processes
Strive for clarity, transparency and openness between engineers and business partners
Engage in concept discussions, and proposed technology solutions, to meet business objectives
Engineering and Agile excellence with a focus on Continuous Improvement
Focus on Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
Qualifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong coordination and influencing skills
Strong experience in object orientated programming with .NET, Java, PHP, C++, or Mobile technologies
Deep understanding and experience with development in AWS
Well versed in Agile development methodology, and Design Patterns
Knowledge of available tools, technologies, methodologies, processes, and best practices to develop software
Strong analytical/problem solving skills and highly detail oriented
Ability to build positive relationships with internal stakeholders
Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines in a software development environment
Strong Business Acumen
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience
4+ years of experience in leading engineering teams
10+ years hands-on experience in software engineering on global development teams
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masters in Computer Science
