Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a Construction Cost Estimator for our Muscatine, IA office. This position develops and checks cost estimates for a variety of architectural, civil, industrial, institutional, federal, and utility type projects. Overtime as needed. Some travel possible.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Prepares material take-offs and reviews take-offs of others from planning documents or engineering drawings.
- Prepares detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
- Prepares the submittal package including basis of estimate, quantity backup, cost data and estimate.
- Accumulates, evaluates, and documents historical cost data for the development of future estimates.
- Contact vendors and suppliers for current material costs.
- Prepares and/or reviews final Engineer’s estimate.
- Working knowledge of general construction practices and processes.
- Work with the estimating department to assure that projects are progressing ahead in an effective and efficient manner.
- Attend off site and in office meetings as required to coordinate efforts with external clients and internal estimating staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Requires 0 - 5 years of relevant experience
- Must possess the ability to read construction documentation
- Previous construction experience is a plus
- Must possess strong PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Experience in scheduling and use of scheduling software is a plus.
- Experience in MII Estimating software is a plus.
- Experience with electronic take off programs is a plus.
