The Software Engineer is responsible for creating software systems that support core functionality of Promethean's products. The engineer is a member of an agile team focused on delivery of key product functionality. The engineer will participate in the full lifecycle of the product from development to production and ensure quality software.
Base Range: ¥236,500 - ¥295,600 with 10% variable
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be an active participant in the day-to-day Scrum activities of the team including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives
- Review and evaluate business requirements in the form of user stories. Participate in the breakdown and estimation of tasks based on requirements.
- Create imaginative and efficient technical solutions with guidance
- Develop high-quality code, following development standards
- Write design documentation, as needed
- Review the work of teammates to ensure quality and learn about the system.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer/QA found issues in a timely manner
- Participate and understand the development build, deployment, and monitoring processes with an emphasis on security, performance and scalability.
- Design reusable components by utilizing standard frameworks. Experiment with new technologies that can enhance our tech stack.
- Conduct regular, self-guided study to stay current on new and existing technologies
Job Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in Android development (including Framework and App levels).
- Knowledge in AOSP: An understanding of Android internals (SystemServer, Binder IPC, HIDL/AIDL).
- Experience in Java/Kotlin and familiarity with C/C++ for JNI/Native development.
- Experience in developing/debugging Hybrid Apps and managing Web-to-Native communication.
- Experience in using Android debugging tools (ADB, Chrome DevTools, Perfetto) and version control (Git/Gerrit).
- Exposure to full life cycle system development including design, building, testing, deployment, upgrade, and support.
- Experience with application lifecycle management tools (e.g. Atlassian) and concepts for version control, work item tracking, and continuous integration
