- Take new products from the concept stage to production stage
- Ensure all program elements are being tracked to ensure that budgets and timing commitments are maintained, and changes in programs status are effectively communicated to all stakeholders
- Identify capital equipment sources and prepare all documents / presentations for PRB (Process Review Board’s) and FRB (Financial Approval board’s) approvals
- Supervise buy-off and installation of equipment up to 100% PSHR completion
- Lead APQP / CFM teams and record all activities
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts based on the feedback from external (CAT, SAT) and internal related performance indicators (monthly Stepping Stool).
- Specify special tools and fixtures where required
- In collaboration with manufacturing engineers, estimate cycle times for each operation in the process.
- Review Process FMEA on regular basis and work with engineering and core teams to reduce high RPN numbers.
- Support core teams to reduce lines scrap against plant targets
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of SRED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) and WET (Waste Elimination Tracker) activities
- A university degree in engineering or an equivalent experience working as a process or manufacturing engineer with a technical diploma or college certificate in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
- Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional technicians / engineers as an asset
- A minimum of four (4) year experience as a process or manufacturing engineer in a machining or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of SPC methods, process and machine capability requirements, blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
- Working knowledge of APQP, CFM and PPAP process.
- Practical knowledge of cutting tools, machining processes, materials & equipment.
- Experience with the use of statistical analysis for machine and process capability studies.
- Discuss proposed layouts of new equipment with core teams and their managers to ensure the requirements for all departments are considered.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in all applicable software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office including Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Ability to write monthly reports that address a variety of operational matters to present to management.
