Job Description
As a Senior Engineer, Product Performance Testing, reporting to the Test Engineering Manager, you will be at the forefront of evaluating cutting-edge products from a wide range of industries in our accredited High Current Test Lab. You'll lead rigorous testing efforts—including short circuit, overload, endurance, arc fault, and dielectric withstand evaluations—to verify compliance with standards such as UL/IEC 60947-4-1 & 2, IEC 61439-1 & 2, UL/IEC 61800-1 & 2, IEC TR 61641, and UL 845. You will blend hands-on technical execution with customer collaboration, lab innovation, and leadership of test technicians—all while prioritizing safety and a positive client experience.
This is an onsite role located at in Milwaukee, WI.
Your Responsibilities:
- Work with high voltage and currents -- strict adherence to safety procedures is vital for lab staff and their customers.
- Configure test equipment, conducting tests with an emphasis on safety, reviewing results and issuing test reports per agency and customer requirements.
- Perform short circuit, overload, endurance, arc fault, and dielectric withstand testing.
- Monitor test lab equipment performance, implementing lab improvements, and overseeing the work of one or more technicians.
- Experience designing, testing or ensuring compliance to UL/IEC 60947-4-1&2, IEC61439-1 &2, UL/IEC 61800-1&2, IEC TR61641, UL845, and other similar standards
- Continuously gain working knowledge of Endurance, Medium Current, and High Current Labs by conducting tests for Rockwell Automation teams and for outside customers.
- Collaborate with Product Compliance and external regulatory bodies (who determine test requirements) to confirm lab capabilities and ensure tests are conducted as intended.
- Write test reports that describe the tests performed and results obtained while contributing to the team's test report turn-around time metric.
- Improve lab's PC and workstation-based data acquisition system hardware and software design and upgrades. This also includes power equipment, PLCs, breakers, etc.
- Support logistics of lab operations by answering questions from lab customers, physically assisting as needed, and test sample shipping and receiving (fork truck training/license provided by ROK).
- Participate in different audits to maintain lab accreditations. Focus on annual procedure reviews, training for self, and training of others (ISO17025).
- Participate in the team's preventive maintenance program through familiarity of assets and managing tasks in Fiix system.
- Provide ad hoc testing and technical support to other labs such as Engineering Labs, EMC and Shock & Vibration
- Where applicable (i.e. laboratory staff who produce, handle or dispose of hazardous or potentially hazardous waste(s) and laboratory staff who work near, around or have the potential to handle or come into contact with hazardous waste(s)), laboratory staff will appropriately handle, segregate and dispose of all hazardous wastes and potentially hazardous wastes. Hazardous waste duties will be performed in accordance with federal and state regulations, as well as Rockwell Automation Policies and Procedures. Hazardous wastes will be handled by staff only after appropriate training has been completed.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
- 5+ years experience in electrical power testing and computerized instrumentation.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or applicable STEM major.
- Knowledge of electronics and computer science
- Experience circuit, overload, endurance, arc fault, and dielectric withstand testing.
- Demonstrated experience working with national and international power engineering standards, including UL, CSA, IEC, IEEE, and ANSI.
