GENERAL PURPOSE
In a developing capacity and under direct supervision, applies basic engineering principles, concepts, theories, and techniques in support of business objectives and may provide fundamental engineering leadership and expertise. May conduct feasibility studies, determine manpower and cost estimates, and develop engineering criteria. Performs primary analyses to develop design options or recommendations for structures, systems and components. May apply originality, ingenuity and knowledge of other disciplines in solving basic technical issues. Emphasis will be placed on team participation, ability to plan, and ability to achieve results on assigned projects.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and document sewing, foam-up/spring-up, and upholstery processes, as well as quality standards in coordination with brands and manufacturing sites.
Coordinate prototype and manufacturing builds, train manufacturing associates, and oversee performance/compliance testing.Provide supporting data for costing and Capex projects, taking detailed notes to document work and assumptions.Utilize originality and ingenuity to develop solutions, applying basic engineering skills, problem-solving abilities, and supply chain cost principles to work assignments.Complete engineering tasks under leadership direction, adhering to engineering and quality processes, and performing additional responsibilities to meet business objectives.Seek mentoring from senior engineers and leadership, and obtain budget approval through the appropriate request process.Work under direct supervision, with work reviewed after completion to evaluate judgment soundness.
 Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Engineering/Technical degree from an accredited program or 2-year technical degree in related field with 3 years of applicable engineering experience
0-2 years of professional engineering experience
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Exposure to project management concepts may be essential for some assignments.
Basic knowledge in Lean principles and application.
Must be able to assess process concepts and to determine where continuous improvement opportunities exist.
Must be able to communicate effectively with people at various levels including production, engineering, and management and to be able to work well with and develop a partnering relationship with other team members.
Basic knowledge in the use of common office automation, communication, software and tools, MillerKnoll mainframe applications and engineering related software.
Must have basic problem solving ability and be able to apply engineering expertise to problem solving.
At the direction of supervision must be able to effectively react to changing priorities and work flow and be able to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes which affect project plans.
Must have an overall basic business sense and understand how decisions impact business results.
Must be able to perform all essential job functions with or without accommodation.
