Role Summary / Purpose
The Engineer – Mechanical Component for the Turbine Module executes well-defined mechanical design and analysis tasks for Hot Gas Path (HGP) components across GE Vernova's F/HA class heavy-duty gas turbines. Working within New Product Introduction, Services, and Fleet Management programs — under the guidance of senior engineers — you will apply FEA, component life assessment methods, and applicable design practices to assess mechanical designs for assigned scopes, contributing structured inputs to design reviews.
You will develop awareness of component-level risks — learning to recognize, document, and communicate issues early with the support of your team.

What Impact You'll Make
Every reliable megawatt delivered to the grid starts with components that are carefully designed and rigorously validated. As an Engineer – Mechanical Component in the Turbine Module HGP team, you will contribute to some of the most thermally and mechanically demanding components in power generation — learning from experienced engineers, contributing to real programs, and building the engineering foundation that will define your career.
If you are technically curious, eager to learn, and ready to apply your academic foundation in a real-world engineering environment — this is where your career takes root.

Job DescriptionWhat You'll DoDesign & Technical Execution
  • Execute the mechanical design and evaluation of Turbine HGP components for assigned tasks — applying sound engineering principles and adhering to GE Vernova design standards and product requirements.
  • Perform FEA analysis tasks — build and run models under direct supervision; interpret results with senior engineer guidance and contribute structured findings to design reviews.
  • Contribute to component configurations — supporting trade-offs across geometry, performance, cost, material, and producibility — within program guidelines and under senior engineer oversight.
  • Perform component life assessment tasks — LCF, Creep, Oxidation — on assigned, focused scopes; evaluate basic design margins and part reliability as part of the team's reliability assessment process.
Task Execution & Problem Solving
  • Execute well-defined engineering tasks within assigned programs — New Product Introduction, Services, and Fleet Management — following established procedures and work routines; deliver with attention to quality, accuracy, and defined scope.
  • Participate in design reviews for assigned tasks — observe review rigor, risk assessment approaches, and technical decision-making; contribute inputs under senior engineer direction.
  • Identify and communicate technical issues within your task scope promptly — escalate to senior engineers with relevant observations and preliminary findings.
  • Maintain personal task lists and progress tracking — stay organized, flag emerging schedule concerns early, and take initiative to keep your workstreams on track.
Team Engagement & Learning
  • Engage actively within your immediate team — work closely with senior engineers and peers on assigned tasks; build strong working relationships and contribute reliably to shared team goals.
  • Develop awareness of how your team's work connects to broader engineering functions — Heat Transfer, Aerodynamics, Manufacturing, and Fleet Engineering — by actively observing cross-functional interactions and team discussions.
  • Build your technical communication skills — learn to explain engineering findings clearly in written and verbal form; develop confidence in presenting your work to peers and senior engineers.
Learning, Growth & Continuous Improvement
  • Bring a genuine eagerness to learn — actively seek feedback from senior engineers, apply new methods, and continuously build technical depth in HGP component design.
  • Bring curiosity and an open mind to new engineering approaches — explore better tools, methods, and ideas as you develop your engineering toolkit.
  • Contribute positively to the team's knowledge — share what you learn, ask questions that help the team think, and grow as a valued team member.
Operational Excellence
  • Identify and suggest improvements within your task scope — observe existing processes, spot inefficiencies, and bring well-reasoned improvement ideas forward for review.
  • Own your task-level documentation — ensure accurate, complete, and timely recording of technical data for all assigned tasks, consistent with GE Vernova engineering policies.
  • Communicate task progress and findings clearly — keep team leads and senior engineers informed on scope status, technical outputs, and quality of delivery.
  • Contribute positively to a safe, inspiring, and inclusive workplace — through how you engage, collaborate, and grow as part of the team.
What You'll BringBasic Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Engineering — Mechanical, Design, Structural, or Applied Mechanics — from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in turbomachinery, mechanical design, structural analysis, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong academic and analytical foundation — ability to apply engineering fundamentals to real-world mechanical design and analysis tasks.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated — ability to execute assigned tasks accurately, follow established procedures, and maintain quality under guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information clearly — in written and verbal form — to peers and senior engineers.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team — receptive to feedback, open to learning, and reliable in task execution.
What Will Make You Stand OutDesired Characteristics
  • Academic or internship exposure to gas turbine or turbomachinery component design and analysis.
  • Basic familiarity with ANSYS, NX/Unigraphics, or related engineering tools — eagerness to develop proficiency.
  • Exposure to component life assessment concepts — LCF, Creep, Oxidation — through coursework or early work experience.
  • Basic understanding of FEA concepts — ability to perform model setup and result interpretation under supervision.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings.
  • Exposure to Python scripting or data analysis tools — and willingness to develop this capability further.
  • Awareness of and eagerness toward emerging engineering technologies — digital tools, simulation platforms, and data-driven methods — with drive to develop and apply them over time.
  • Ability to manage multiple task assignments with attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills — able to explain technical concepts clearly to peers and team members.
  • Growth mindset: curious, coachable, and open — actively seeks learning opportunities and takes initiative to improve.
  • Exposure to structured problem-solving approaches — 8D or equivalent — is a plus.
