Summary Generated by Built In

The IT Systems & Network Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of information technology and related broadcast systems within the facility.

This is a hands-on technical position with a strong emphasis on end-user support, hardware break/fix, Microsoft technologies, network connectivity, and general IT infrastructure support. The position also works closely with the station’s Engineering team and supports technology used in newsroom, production, and broadcast operations.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded IT professional who is comfortable troubleshooting everything from an end-user issue or hardware failure to a network switch, server, Microsoft 365 issue, or specialized broadcast-connected system.

Broadcast television experience is beneficial but is not required for a candidate with a strong IT foundation and the ability and desire to learn broadcast technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on end-user technical support and hardware/software break-fix support throughout the organization.
  • Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows workstations and laptops.
  • Support Microsoft 365 applications and services, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Office applications.
  • Support Microsoft Intune endpoint management and on-premises Active Directory.
  • Support Windows Server environments, including basic administration, troubleshooting, patching, file services, permissions, and general server operations.

  • Perform basic configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco IOS network switches, including:
    • Switchport configuration
    • Access VLAN assignments
    • Interface status and error troubleshooting
    • Basic configuration review and validation
    • Common Cisco IOS show and configuration commands
  • Provide basic troubleshooting and support within environments containing Juniper network equipment. Deep Juniper engineering expertise is not required, but familiarity with Juniper networking concepts or the ability to work within a mixed-vendor environment is preferred.
  • Support cloud-based Webex Calling / VoIP systems, including phones, user configuration, basic troubleshooting, and connectivity issues.
  • Support physical network connectivity, patch panels, structured cabling, fiber connections, RJ45 cabling, and related infrastructure.
  • Maintain appropriate security, access controls, system configuration, endpoint protection, and data privacy practices.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, equipment changes, and technical solutions.
  • Manage and maintain the organization's IT service management/ticketing system and associated support workflows.
  • Work closely with Engineering, News, Production, Sales, and other departments to identify technology requirements and resolve operational issues.

Previous experience in television broadcasting, broadcast engineering, media production, newsroom technology, or similar environments is considered a plus.

Candidates are not required to be experienced broadcast engineers. A strong IT professional who has solid troubleshooting skills, understands networks and computer systems, and is willing to learn specialized broadcast technologies may be successful in this position.
