This temporary position is located at 3040-105 Hammond Business Place - Wake County, with Department of Public Safety.   

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

This position will function as an Electronic Engineer and provide expertise in the  design, integration, diagnosis, and repair of complex electronic-based control systems incorporated into new construction, renovations, and existing facilities for the NC Department of Public Safety. These control systems include (but are not limited to) security monitoring and control systems, building management systems, and energy management systems.

Job duties and responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

The focus of this position will be the design and integration of HVAC control and Building Management systems.

Serving as a technical resource to all maintenance personnel for specialized consulting and troubleshooting services.

This position requires in-state travel with occasional overnight stays. A state vehicle will be provided as needed and available for work travel.


Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
