Job Description:
The Engineer II, Software Development will be an integral part of an Agile software development team responsible for the quality and value of the healthcare software applications provided to our customers. The incumbent will configure, code, and document software specifications throughout the life cycle of assigned projects.
- Design and develop software solutions by determining client needs, studying system flows, data usage, and work processes.
- Design and code high traffic web applications, console applications and SQL queries for optimal performance; participate in code and design reviews.
- Assist with mentoring system performance and provide top-tier product support.
- Maintain and improve existing codebases.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies such as planning, demos, daily standup.
- Participate in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase.
- Collaborate with team members, product owners, and stakeholders to determine and refine effective engineering solutions to meet client business needs and requirements.
- Create, maintain, and modify ongoing data architecture.
- Produce automated testing for developed software with reasonable test cases, including but not limited to unit, regression, and integration.
- Partner with team members and project management to outline and execute assigned tasks in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience in software development, web application development or related applications.
- Experience with .NET framework (C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET), Java, SQL, MS SQL, and JavaScript languages.
- Experience in HTML5 and CSS3 development.
- Experience working with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
- Experience in Healthcare technology.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required equivalent qualifications for the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of: Healthcare domain with exposure to clinical and claims data; SQL, RDBMS, and NoSQL databases (such as Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.); Node.JS, Java, and JavaScript; AWS, WPF development; technical expertise in area of responsibility.
- Skill in: Communication, troubleshooting, influence, collaboration, team building, problem solving skills.
- Ability to: Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase; learn and follow the Healthcare IT industry to develop and maintain empathy for customer needs; collaborate and work in a team environment following continuous integration / continuous delivery; influence other developers and stakeholders in R&D regarding practices and procedures; apply advanced technical principles to complete moderately complex tasks. Work on competing priorities with little direction or supervision.
