Job Description:
The Engineer II, Cloud Platforms & Operations plays a pivotal role in designing, building, and automating scalable cloud platforms and infrastructure that power our enterprise and healthcare applications. This role works within a defined technical area to support cloud services and deployment pipelines that directly impact departmental goals and business targets. The role typically involves contributing to simple to moderately complex projects, with defined objectives aligned to team priorities. Under general supervision, the Engineer II, Cloud Platforms & Operations sets goals for their own work to meet broader project and departmental outcomes, applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to drive efficiency, resilience, and performance.- Engineer and automate the provisioning, deployment, and configuration of cloud-native infrastructure and applications.
- Drive improvements across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to enhance scalability, performance, and availability of cloud-hosted services.
- Develop and maintain internal tools and platform services that streamline CI/CD workflows and infrastructure operations.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to advise engineering and operations teams on CloudOps, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Collaborate across IS and product teams to deliver secure, compliant, and reliable cloud environments using modern SRE and observability principles.
- Implement automated monitoring, alerting, and self-healing capabilities to minimize downtime and improve client experience.
- Support incident response, root cause analysis, and operational readiness for critical production services.
- Document processes, platforms, and tooling; deliver knowledge-sharing sessions and onboarding resources for internal teams.
- Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
- 2+ years of experience in CloudOps, DevOps, systems administration, or platform engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other major cloud providers (Azure, GCP).
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering or infrastructure automation preferred.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator (or equivalent cloud certification).
- Knowledge of: Cloud-native architecture and services (AWS, Azure, GCP). Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools: AWS CloudFormation, Terraform. CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CodePipeline. Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (EKS preferred). Configuration management tools: Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Scripting and automation with Python, Bash, PowerShell. Monitoring and observability frameworks (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Dynatrace). Linux and/or Windows server administration. Networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
- Skill in: Problem-solving and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and deployments. Collaborating across development, security, and operations teams. Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to: Design resilient cloud platforms and improve operational maturity. Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Promote a culture of automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
