We’re seeking an Engineer I, Technology (Process Engineer) in a pivotal role within our technology department in Monroe, NC. You’ll be responsible for leading and optimizing processes across various stages of production, from raw materials qualifications to multiple melting processes for titanium alloy products. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in metallurgical or materials science engineering (or other related engineering disciplines) to enhance process efficiency, product quality, and safety while supporting the development and standardization of new products and processes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical lead for various processes including raw materials qualifications, advanced material weighout systems, welding, and melting of Titanium products.
  • Provide technical support to continuously improve processes, yields and resolve process-related non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Quality personnel to develop improvements to manufacturing processes and standards that enhance safety in the workplace, equipment performance and product quality.
  • Lead or participate in team-based continuous improvement activities including risk assessments (RAA), problem solving reports (PSR), process audits and standard work.
  • Support internal/external customers by analyzing chemistry and yield processing data.
  • Support Product Engineering and R&D in the development, evaluation and standardization of new products and processes.
Preferred Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering preferred. Will consider B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma or related certification
  • Proficient in statistical data analysis.
  • One or more years of experience in the aerospace, defense, metals processing, or other materials manufacturing preferred.

Skills and Expectations for the role:

  • Strong technical background
  • Preferred: some previous coursework or job experience with metals processing and structure/property relationships.
  • Technical writing/oral presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills at all levels.
  • Eager to learn and become a technical expert & primary point of contact in area of responsibility.
  • Comfortable being on the shop floor observing processes, providing guidance and interfacing with operators.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and requirements to shop floor personnel in a clear, concise manner.
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Uses scientifically rigorous, data driven approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining composure and meeting established deadlines.
