In this role, you will play a key part in New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining Engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include developing innovative design concepts to meet customer and market requirements, creating 3D models and 2D drawings, and performing advanced analyses using common and Copeland-developed methodologies. Apply independent judgment and technical expertise within the defined scope of the role and contribute to high-impact, global projects in the HVACR domain while helping to strengthen our world-class design team.

Responsibilities:

As A Design Engineer, You will:

  • Translate marketing and customer requirements into innovative design concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct critical review, seek approval of high complex design / layouts / documentation in collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Apply engineering principles and mechanical sciences to perform engineering calculations and define design parameters
  • Experience in using various Engineering / Quality / analysis tools / processes to arrive design decisions
  • Develop precise 3D part and assembly models using UG NX
  • Create accurate 2D product drawings with proper tolerances, GD&T, and surface finish specifications in compliance with ASME and other applicable standards
  • Coordinate design activities and maintain effective communication with cross-functional stakeholders, including Project Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Reliability, Quality, suppliers, and plant teams.
  • Deliver projects by defining scopes, managing schedules, and ensuring timely delivery of competitive products
  • Oversee the NPD design process in alignment with Copeland’s standards and policies
  • Bill of materials in systems and maintain engineering documentation in Teamcenter.
  • Continuous process improvement using automation, standardization, digitization, and efficiency improvement programs
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to document project activities, meeting minutes, and task assignments.

Required education, experiences & skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience
  • Proficiency in CAD software - UG NX, Draftsight/ AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of HVACR systems and mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent oral and written communication and collaboration skills
  • Expertise in plastics and sheet metal part manufacturing

Preferred education, experiences & skills:

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience
  • Strong background in mechanical systems, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
  • Experience within the HVAC industry
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Skills Required
