Job Description
Are you ready to be at the heart of a global fintech leader?
Checkout.com is seeking a forward-thinking and technically curious Operations Center Engineer I to join our cutting-edge Global Operations Center. This is not your typical support role. You will be a vital part of the team that ensures the stability, performance, and security of the core infrastructure that powers our global platform.
Forget waiting for things to break. As an Operations Center Engineer, you will proactively monitor our complex hybrid environment, identify potential issues before they impact our services, and contribute to the automation that keeps us running at peak performance. You will gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies like AWS, Cisco networking, and Terraform, making a tangible impact on a global scale. If you are a problem-solver with a passion for cloud and infrastructure technologies, we want you on our team.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Proactive Monitoring & Incident Management: Serve as a first responder for alerts from our sophisticated monitoring systems, analyzing and troubleshooting issues across our cloud (AWS) and on-premise (Cisco) infrastructure.
- Infrastructure Operations: Take ownership of incidents, working with senior engineers to resolve complex technical issues and prevent recurrence.
- Automation & Efficiency: Utilize and contribute to our Infrastructure-as-Code practices, with opportunities to work with tools like Terraform to automate responses and deployments.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with Engineering, Security, and Application Support teams to ensure swift resolution of any service-impacting events.
- Process Improvement: Adhere to and help refine our ITSM and operational processes, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of service delivery and availability within our SLAs.
- Global Impact: Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business during incidents and provide clear, concise updates.
- A degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a strong asset.
- While we welcome promising fresh graduates, 1-2 years of experience in a Systems, Network, Security, or NOC role would be an advantage.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud technologies is essential; hands-on experience or certifications in AWS are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Cisco environments is a plus.
- Exposure to or a strong desire to learn Infrastructure-as-Code principles and tools like Terraform.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios) and their role in a proactive operational environment.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills across Windows and Mac OS environments.
- A collaborative, can-do attitude with strong communication skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
- A deep-seated curiosity and eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, global technology company.
- Flexibility to work on a 24/7 shift rotation, including weekends and public holidays, to ensure continuous global operations.
