About this opportunity:
Join Ericsson as an Engineer - Data Centre, an integral role where you will have the opportunity to manage, maintain, and deployment of the physical infrastructure within the data centre. This role involves both building and operational support activities to ensure optimal data centre performance and reliability. The engineer will be actively involved in activities such as rack installation, cable laying, network device installation, cable dressing, and material handling. In addition, the role includes troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues, coordinating with customers and OEM vendors, and ensuring all incidents are resolved within defined SLA timelines.
What you will do:
- Help the installation of data centre devices (Arista, Juniper, Cisco, Ciena, Nokia) and infrastructure by guiding the field team to fully understand the entire scope.
- Address technical queries and provide solutions to ensure smooth execution of field work.
- Collaborate with the customer to identify and resolve any discrepancies in the detailed document aligned with the scope of work.
- Prepare the Bill of Materials for consumable items based on the project's requirements.
- Contribute to POC and document drafting related to the process methodology.
- Ensure field technicians receive ongoing skill development through new training programs.
- Stay current with the latest technologies and best practices in the data centre industry.
- Involvement in the upcoming decommissioning efforts, in tendum with the build team, will include dismantling equipment, acquire packaging materials, and handle the entire process through customer portals.
- Work in collaboration with the project manager on upcoming projects and submit technical quotations based on the customer-defined scope of work for invoicing.
The skills you bring:
- Total years of experience - 2 to 5 years
- Proven experience in installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of hardware within data centre environments.
- Proven experience in remote troubleshooting and ability to operate effectively in a data centre environment.
- Strong technical expertise in data centre operations and IT infrastructure, including servers, switches, routers, cabling systems, and fibre optics.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain physical infrastructure within a data centre environment.
- Strong hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of Cisco, Ciena, Juniper, and Arista network devices and technologies.
- Strong expertise in optical, copper, and fibre cabling systems, including fibre standards, connector types, and cable management practices.
- Flexible and adaptable, capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Skilled in reviewing, enhancing, and maintaining Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and operational guidelines.
- Strong focus on service excellence with a customer-first mindset, leveraging multi-domain technical competence.
- Adheres strictly to approved MOPs, safety protocols, and operational instructions without deviation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across teams and with customers.
- A proactive team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in spoken and written English to support effective communication in global environments.
