Job Description SummaryAs an Engineer in the Mechanical Systems and Design Laboratory, you will be a key contributor to the design, analysis, testing, and validation of machinery components for electrical and turbomachinery systems. Your primary focus will be on executing defined technical tasks, mastering core engineering methodologies, and delivering high-quality, data-driven results under the guidance of senior technical staff. Applications include fossil and renewable power generation and storage, electric machines and drives.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work in the design, analysis, and testing of machine components and systems including conceptual design, detailed design, testing, validation, and product implementation.
• Execute assigned technical tasks within machine design projects, applying established engineering standards and methods with high precision.
• Build foundational domain knowledge in machine components (shafts, bearings, seals, etc.) through hands-on learning and rapid information assimilation.
• Solve scoped technical problems using established scientific approaches; proactively seek guidance when specifications or objectives are ambiguous; Work with other support functions and/or external suppliers to meet project deliverables.
• Actively support project team members, share information effectively, and participate in cross-functional team activities to achieve project deliverables; Collaborate in the development of internal and external project proposals and initiatives.
• Apply basic AI tools to assigned tasks to enhance productivity and quality; identify and document innovative solutions/IP potential within your project scope.
• Take ownership of personal goals and project milestones.
• Foster a multidisciplinary and inclusive team environment.

Required Qualifications:

• MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mechanics or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in machinery and/or rotating components design.
• 1+ years of demonstrable experience (academic research, internships, or early industrial roles) in machine design or analysis.
• 2+ years of foundational proficiency in 3D modeling (e.g., NX, SOLIDWORKS, Creo) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools like ANSYS.
• 3+ years of strong analytical experience with a focus on data-driven decision-making and the scientific method.

• Academic or practical experience in system modeling (coupling of fluid, thermal, and structural analyses).
• Enthusiasm for learning and growing technical expertise in rotor support and turbomachinery design.

Additional Information

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
