As the Energy Performance Engineer, you will be the driving force behind improving energy efficiency across our industrial operations. You will own the planning, execution, and continuous enhancement of energy performance—leveraging data, analytics, engineering expertise, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver measurable impact.
This is a high‑visibility role where you will influence strategy, identify cost‑saving opportunities, lead ISO 50001 initiatives, and partner with teams across the organization to help drive our long‑term energy, cost, and sustainability goals.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience working on energy conservation projects (heavy industrial preferred)
- Preferred: Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- Experience with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems (preferred)
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems, including:
- Thermal processes
- Compressed air systems
- Dust collection
- Air make-up units
- Pumps and fans
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and process diagrams
- Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross‑functional partners
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills—comfortable presenting, facilitating training, and inspiring behavior change
- Strong project management abilities, especially in complex, multi‑discipline environments
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to translate data into action
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
- 5–7 years of energy engineering experience (heavy industrial strongly preferred)
- Strong energy data analytics and auditing capabilities
- Experience with Continuous Improvement and/or Six Sigma
- Background in steel mill or foundry operations/maintenance
- Demonstrated creativity and adaptability in developing solutions
- Lead the Energy Management System in alignment with ISO 50001 principles
- Build strong partnerships with plant teams to uncover operational efficiency opportunities
- Maintain and enhance energy performance indicators (EnPIs), baselines, and improvement targets
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret energy usage data to prioritize improvements across facilities
- Manage the integration and optimization of energy monitoring software and dashboards
- Conduct energy assessments and audits across industrial processes and systems
- Develop and implement energy management strategies tied to organizational goals
- Partner with Engineering on capital project evaluation, technical due diligence, and ROI analysis
- Support Finance with monthly energy reporting, cost budgeting, and measurement & verification (M&V) of savings
- Coordinate participation in utility programs, demand response, and reliability initiatives
- Lead plant energy teams and standardize best practices across sites
- Create and deliver training to strengthen energy awareness, compliance, and performance
- Promote alignment between cost‑reduction initiatives and sustainability outcomes
- Stay current on emerging technologies, regulations, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with state and federal agencies to leverage available resources
- Follow Environmental, Quality, and Safety Management System requirements
