Endoscopy Tech (ENDO)
Full Time I First Shift
Surgical Dept. I Lexington, KY
The Endoscopy Unit is a specialized department within the hospital that focuses on performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using advanced endoscopic technology. This unit provides minimally invasive methods to examine and treat conditions affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, respiratory system, and other internal structures. Its goal is to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a safe and efficient environment.
Description Endoscopy Tech (ENDO):
- Under the general direction of the Registered Nurse, assists the Endoscopy team with procedures, including assisting with reprocessing of endoscopes, performance of procedures, and assisting in the preparation of patients for Endoscopy.
- Sets up the procedural area with supplies and equipment based upon requirements for the endoscopic procedure following aseptic technique. Cleans up and closes down the room after the procedure following aseptic Technique.
- Assists in preparing the patient.
- Assist in hooking patient up to monitoring devices; BP, EKG, SAO2.
- Orient’s patient and significant other(s) to environment, ie: bathroom, waiting room, etc.
- Assists the physician with scopes, accessories, and specimen collection during procedures.
- Assists with patient transport to and from procedure room.
- Assists in positioning patient for specific procedure.
- Coaches’ patient through procedure as needed.
Requirements Endoscopy Tech (ENDO):
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of patient care experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, surgical assistant or other equivalent position.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
