Job Summary
The Endoscopy Technician supports physicians and team members by preparing for and assisting during GI and interventional procedures. You’ll ensure equipment is in place, assist with specimen handling, provide patient support, and help maintain a safe and efficient procedural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare procedure rooms and equipment for general and advanced GI procedures
- Assist during procedures as a technical resource
- Decontaminate and maintain endoscopes and related equipment
- Process pathology specimens according to protocol
- Provide direct support to patients before and after procedures
- Assist with vital signs, nourishment, toileting, and IV removal under the guidance of the nurse
- Ensure timely availability of equipment and supplies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a medical/biological field preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- 1–3 years of related experience preferred
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred
- Ability to work in high-stress situations and assist critically ill patients
- Comfort using Microsoft Office and web-based systems
- Previous experience with interventional procedures is a plus
